Setting default keyboard on Galaxy S7 Nougat

Same problem here. A real pain.

I don’t see the default keyboard field in the Language and input settings on my Galaxy S7 running Nougat either.

In that case, I use either one of these methods to change the default keyboard:

1. In a text box, slide down the notification panel from the top of the screen, tap Change keyboard. On the Change keyboard prompt, select the keyboard you want.
2. Open the keyboard app (for example, SiwftKey, Go keyboard, etc.) that you want to set as the default, you’ll either get the Change keyboard prompt or find the settings to set the keyboard as the default.

After further searching, I found this solution:
While a keyboard is displayed, slide down the notifications (from the top).
One of them will say “Select Keyboard”. Choose this one, and then the keyboard can be changed.
What a screwup!

Can you provide details? I’m not sure at all what to do and I have spent an hour trying to figure out how to change the keyboard back to Google.

Get any keyboard displayed (by pressing in a text field). While the keyboard is visible, swipe down from the top to see the notifications. One of them should be “Select Keyboard”. Touch that and you should see a list of keyboards. Choose the one you want.

I don’t see the ‘select keyboard’ as part of the options.

A keyboard has to be showing at the bottom of the screen.

Can you post a photo of what you pull down. When I go to the top of the screen after opening keyboard all I see is Symbols: Wifi, location, sound, rotate, blue tooth airplane mode. Thank you

Here’s the screenshot. Just note that your current keyboard has to be active to see the Change keyboard option on the notification panel.

Samsung screwed up with that update. Nothing should be that messy to track down ?

I went to Google play store and open the Gboard – the Google Keyboard will give two options, uninstall or open. When you open the app it will give you a choice between Google keyboard and Samsung keyboard.

I’m able to find the keyboard settings and change them, but then sometimes when I’m typing I’ll randomly be asked to choose a default keyboard again. It’s like it won’t keep the setting. Is this a related issue, or something different?

Same here with the one plus 3t. This is really annoying. And i wish they fix it soon cause i want to use the gboard with the google voice without any stupid notification. :/

I do not get the option even when keyboard is displayed. This update from Samsung is soooooo bad.

i’ve just reset the keyboard setting & back to normal. hahaha!

Figured it out already. In the emoticons press and hold the emoticon button a text box will appear find the gear icon there you’ll be able to locate the settings for the keyboard adjustment
